Prostitution

Prostitution has been around for century’s. Where it was the norm for a gentleman to visit a brothel in the 19th century, it is not looked down upon. However, this does not mean that it is any less common.

Many believe that prostitution is morally wrong. It degrades women (and men) to a point where they get paid for sexual activity. Such things can change a person’s perspective on life.

However, there can be numerous reasons as to why prostitution occurs. Such as:

  • Money issues
  • The thrill
  • Lack of education
  • All that the person knows how to do Etc

But do these reasons really make it okay for them to do it? And should people actually use these services?

Durkheim (A fundamentalist sociologist) suggested that prostitutes make a family stable. This is because it allows the man to gain a form of release without having to emotionally cheat on his wife. The release is meant to be all about physical activity and so cannot be considered an affair as there is no emotional attachment or feelings involved; thus, saving their marriage.

Here is a link that explains the role of prostitution is society in further detail:

Prostitution HAS been around for a long time and in some places (i.e. Amsterdam-Holland) is still legal. Personally, I feel that people should not stoop so low as to sell themselves to the highest bidder… but I also feel that those who are placing money on these poor souls have more problems (mentally) than anyone else.....
